Positioned between Zagreb and the Adriatic coast, Gorski Kotar is a mountainous
region rich with forests, often referred to as “The
Lungs of Croatia”.
Centuries old pine and deciduous trees cover the 4000
ft mountain peaks, through which the rivers Kupa, Kupica,
Curak, Dobra and Cabranka meander. A perfect setting for the
rich flora and fauna to be found in this beautiful location.
The river Kupa, with its emerald green and crystal clear waters,
can be found winding its way through the small towns and villages
in the area. The river is best known for
a range of activities such as fly-fishing, rafting, kayaking
and canoeing. Only 45 minutes drive to the coast and about
an hour to Zagreb, Gorski Kotar is easily accessible and radiates
an unspoilt peace and quiet, perfect for that escape from busy
urban areas.
