Property and Real Estate Information
Some would argue that the phrase “as safe as houses” isn’t
worth the paper its written on given the boom and bust cyclical nature of
property and real estate markets around the world. Having said that, in the long-term,
property is still a relatively safe investment option, and certainly less
risky than most other investment opportunities that one could throw hard-earned
money at. Generally speaking, high-end properties will weather most financial
storms – clearly
something that Mukesh Ambani and his family believe in.
Mr Ambani is one of
those very rare people, a trillionaire, and he hails from India. He and his
family will be moving into their new house in 2009, when property construction
is completed. The house, named Antilla, will be the most expensive piece of
real estate in the world racking up a bill of $1 billion! For that the Ambani
household get a 27-storey ultra-modern tower block complete with its own gym
and health-club (of course!); a helipad on the roof; and a garage that can
house 168 vehicles over six floors … presumably
Mr Ambani has a lot of cars to house, as well as the 600 staff that will be
employed to look after him and his family…
Contrasting rather wildly with the Ambani
household, is the property owned by Nikolai Sutyagin who lives in Arkhangelsk,
in the north-west of Russia. In Mr. Sutyagin’s case, he owns the world’s
tallest wooden house - 13 floors
and 144 feet high - and possibly one of the most eccentric. Largely
self-built, the property has been a work in progress since 1992 and originally
started life as a two storey dwelling – but it
didn’t quite look right to Mr. Sutyagin,
