Striking two bedroom mountain chalet close to ski slopes

About Mrkopalj

The town of Mrkopalj is situated about two thirds of the way between Zagreb and the Adriatic coast (closest to the coast) and in the centre of the Gorski Kotar region, the forest rich mountainous area of Croatia.

Once an important timber trading town, Mrkopalj is now oriented towards tourism and sport, particularly rambling, mountain biking and skiing. There are a number of biking paths in the area, meandering through the scenic landscape of forests, fields, hills and through the local villages.

With the Adriatic coast only 30 miles away, Mrkopalj combines the advantages of a location within easy reach of both the mountain region and the seaside. In winter the focus is on skiing, with the alpine ski centre of Celimbasa and the Nordic (biathlon) centre of Zagmajna less than 2 miles away. Celimbasa features two red runs and one black run, whilst Zagmajna features over 3 miles of Nordic ski slopes.

The ski season will shortly be extended after the installation of state-of-the-art artificial snow making equipment, installation of which is planned to start in late spring 2008.
